The 8th Wonder Of The World š
Hi friends!
As I was wrapping up my reflections for 2020, I decided to sum up a couple of metrics pertaining to my personal growth / branding stuff - and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I had done over the year 2020!
Up to this point, I have:
Written 37 articles on my website
Sent out 33 issues of my weekly email newsletter
Produced 26 fitspographics on my website
Produced 10 YouTube Videos (actually 14, but I donāt count 4 of them because I wasnāt actually serious about YouTube then)
Doesnāt sound like a lot, but it actually required lots of dedication, sacrifices and effort to pull off. I wouldnāt have it any other way though - Iāve learnt SO much through doing all of this, and am still getting lots of fulfillment out of it. I was really pleased at how far I had come since I posted my first ever blog post! Iāve definitely grown since then.
We often convince ourselves that āimprovementā has to be this BIG visible instant change because what you see the 'afterā results of an achievement. More often than not, what you donāt see are the incremental, (sometimes unnoticeable) changes that are happening behind the scenes.
Should I skip the gym? Should I eat that cookie? Should I binge on netflix or read that book? Hmmm..
These are the kind of thoughts that run through every oneās mind at some point of time, but remember - every small decision counts.
We are so used to instant gratification, that weāve forgotten how to work through the (temporary) pain to reap the benefits.
In anything you do, there will always be a grind, but once you get through it, the feeling of accomplishment is amazing! I always think about this when Iām halfway through a swim, and Iām incredibly tired and out of breath - but I keep moving forward, and once Iām done with my entire swim, the feeling is just GOLD. So I use this to remind myself constantly motivate myself when Iām in any grind!
In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear also mentioned:
In the beginning, there is basically no difference between making a choice that is 1 percent better or 1 percent worse. (In other words, it wonāt impact you very much today.) But as time goes on, these small improvements or declines compound and you suddenly find a very big gap between people who make slightly better decisions on a daily basis and those who donāt.
If you get one percent better each day for one year, youāll end up thirty-seven times better by the time youāre done!
I always knew about the power of compounding, but Iām keen to leverage it even more now to use it to my advantage!
Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesnāt, pays it. - Albert Einstein
So keep going, and at every juncture, try to make the 'rightā decision (even if itās a difficult one) as much as possible, because the benefits youāll reap in the long run will just be so good!
Letās keep continuing to strive towards our goals šŖš½!
Till next week!
